Karen describes her first encounter with the Boji stones and the way they got their name-in her own words: "When I was little, probably three, I had a crow I named 'Boji. No one knew where the name came from because I had been raised in close connection with animals and made mostly animal sounds at that age. MOQUI BALLS: Also known as Moqui Marbles, Mochi Marbles, Shaman Stones, Navajo Cherries, or Indian Marbles. These stony spheres are actually concretions - sandstone balls cemented by a hard shell of iron oxide minerals. The outside is Iron, and the inside is Sandstone. Boji Stones and Moqui Balls are two different stones. Boji Balls are found in Kansas and are composed of pyrite. Moqui Balls are considered a sacred Shaman Stone and where very likely named after the Moqui Indians. The outside of a Moqui Ball is Iron, and the inside is Sandstone. Boji Stones are another Iron concretion, but they are heavier than the Mochi Balls, because they do not have Sandstone in the center like the Mochi Balls. Boji Stones comes as a pair one female and one male, real Boji Stones comes with a certificate of authenticity. Moqui balls don’t come as female/male pairs, those are the Boji Stones which is a different type of stone not to be confused with Moqui balls.
