On my last video I opened up for the very first time in my life publicly about depression, and how I have managed to live with it for all my life. Doing something like this, it definitely puts you in a vulnerable position as opening up about something so personal to the world is not easy. But I do believe that it's so important to bring awareness and talk more openly and positively about this very important issue.
We have a mental health crisis in America and statistics shows everyday the alarming rates of suicide specially among young people, the most prescribed drug in America are antidepressants.
Physical health is very important and so its mental health, even more! As a result of my last video, I received many messages of support and many questions as well, so I decided to make this follow up video to answer some of those questions and to share with you some of the things I do to help me manage my depression and the moments I feel really down. I say some very important things about Ayahuasca on this video but very briefly because that subject that definitely needs a video or a series of videos on their own.
My next video actually is going to be all about that, not only because I myself needs to be reminded of what abuelita Ayahuasca taught me, but because I think it is an incredibly valuable information to everyone actually. Talking about these things is not easy but one thing I know and am experiencing myself specially now in this "midlife transformation" I'm going through, is that doing so is very liberating.
Talking about it, writing it down it's very helpful. One thing the years teaches us is that the more we hold onto things and keep them suppressed inside, the more they will eat us alive.
