RUBELLITE: Rubellite is a variety of tourmaline that exhibits a vibrant red to pinkish-red color, sometimes with a slight purple hue. The name comes from the Latin "rubellus," meaning reddish, and is used to describe tourmalines with this distinct color range, typically caused by manganese impurities. However, not all red tourmalines are labeled rubellite; the term is usually reserved for stones with intense, saturated red hues that resemble ruby.
